TonePad Make Music

Screenshot of TonePad for iPhone

Got this little app for my iPhone, few weeks ago and upon trying it out – instantly realized its full potential. Just plug a stereo cable from iPhone’s headphone jack into DAW and you get this funky little 8-bit synth.

Basically TonePad is a polyphonic tone generator with what looks and acts like a 16 step sequencer. Perfect toy to kill time while on the road to quick-compose some very interesting and complex patterns for later use in the studio.

Tone generator is quite simple, 8 bit-ish with slight delay effect and  without sound editing options (it sounds like the main synth from On by Aphex Twin).

Pros: 16 step sequencer, save function, upload & download function, simple delay effect, polyphonic.
Cons: no transpose (octave shift), no Note or Step (bar) markers, tempo cannot be changed, delay cannot be turned off.
